(Scout Photo) O'Dell Wins Recitation Contest MURPHY - The girl's re citation contest, sponsored an nually by the Business and Professional Women's Club of Murphy, was held at Murphy High School Friday, May 3. Winners were Maxlne O'Dell, first; Marilyn Ander son, second; and Loretta Brlcbey, third. The Judges were Mrs. Hobart MdCeever, Mrs.N.J. Babb, and Mrs. H. A. MatDx. Andrews Election ANDREWS -Percy B.Fere bee Tuesday was reelected as mayor of Andrews for a fourth consecutive two-year term. He was unopposed in the town's biennial voting and re ceived 193 votes. Elected id the four seats on the town's board of alcfer men were: Harold Jones, 191; J. Luther Truett, 189; S. J. Gernert. 188, and Zeb Con ley.187. Gernert is a new member of the board. All members were present. i In a letter to the Board of Commissioners, H.W.Hugh es, chairman of the Cherokee County Board of Elections, made the following report of the election board's April meeting. "The County Board of Blecdons met Saturday, April 4, for a general meeting. The board voted to build a building for holding elections at tix> following precincts: One at Walker School House voting precinct and one at Burnt Meeting House voting precinct. Also to move the building that was built In the year of 1958 from Long Ridge precinct to Hot House voting precinct. The board agreed that these two buildings to be erected shouldbeoutofCon crete Blocks, size 16 feet by 24 feet and have one front door and two windows. The board, while In session, a unaminously agreed to move the following precincts id be consolidated as follows: To motlt to be moved and con solidated with Murphy voting precinct; Long Ridge and Li berty voting precincts to Shoal Creek voting precincts. The board agreed that It would ask for bids on the two buildings and the one to be moved, and that these bids are s> be In so that the Board will meet back on June 1st, 1963, to act on the bids. When these three voting precincts are moved and con solidated, It will reduce the number of voting places in Cherokee County from twenty four to eighteen, saving the tax - payers i approximately fifteen hundred dollars on each election." In other business, a motion was made and duly seconded approving and recommending Improvement for a road In Murphy Township known as' Grape Creek Road. Motion having been made and duly seconded, the com missioners agreed to place on the map 1/4 mile road In Murphy Township, known as the Willson Road. Motion was made by W. T. Moore and seconded by L. N. Dead Man Is Not Her Son, Mother Says MURPHY - A cue of mis taken Identity developed Sat urday, May 4, when a body throught to be that of WlUtam Wade Coffey arrived from Denver, Colo. Coffey's mother came to Town son Fweral Home to view the body and said It was not her son. Other members of the family and some ISO townspeople also looked and said the same thing. The body wu Identified on Monday u that of James T. Campbell of Town Creek. Ala. Coffey has been away from home in the Marble Com munlty for about two years. His death wu reported lut Thursday from Denver, where authorities foind a body bear ing Social Security and Army discharge papers with Coffey's The body was found face down In a creek In Denver lut week and at first wu Identified as William Wade Coffey, 47, a native of Chero kee Cotnty, N. C? by an Army discharge and a Social Se curity card found on the body. Campbell's body which bore no marks of violence was shipped here. Saturday,Cof fey 's 70-year old mother viewed the corpse and said It wu not the body of bar Cherokee County Coroner J. C. Town son said Denver authorities learned the true Identity of the body through a check of FBI fingerprint re cords.
